Byteside; good taste and free thinking

A handful of people in the know have been attending a somewhat underground event at the Shelbourne Hotel to experience a tech and gaming panel filmed live, and later published online.

The show called Byteside (@byteside) has featured panelists that include PlayStation reps, AusGamers.com.au editors and the infamous Stilgherrian, Natalie Tran and Ben Grubb.

Hard hitting in topics, Byteside covers things such as internet filtering and the governments plans for a blacklist, media ratings for games, to the new under-ocean fibre link to Guam that makes our Internets just that little bit more faster—and cheaper.

The panel nights—each Tuesday fortnight—are becoming much tighter in their production, though it seems that they’re still perfecting the general directive of the show.

Host Seamus Byrne has aeons of experience in the know on the latest gadgets and tech appears at times to want to get more involved in the show than a host probably should. It reminds me largely of the current Rove Live format; loose but enjoyable.

Whilst the show is sometimes drawn out and very niche in its target audience the show has great appeal for those wanting to know more about the general tech and gaming interest, they’re really coming together with a great ambience for the show.

The 6th show is on November the 24th and is something not to be missed and you can find out more about the upcoming show at the Biteside.com website.

Hopefully as the show matures they’ll accept more crowd participation, have a consistency that a respected show needs and be syndicated by a [more] major sponsor.

You can subscribe to the Byteside RSS feed, find them on Twitter or Facebook.
